If you are thinking about building a deck for your home, you want it to be attractive and long lasting. Using high quality wood will help prevent warping and rotting, and will create a sophisticated space for family gatherings and entertaining friends. 5/4" x 6" Ipe decking board could be the ideal choice for a luxurious, sophisticated deck area.
Unlike other decking boards, 5/4" x 6" decking board is surfaced on all four sides. This means that no rough edges will be exposed, giving your deck a more consistent appearance. The corners of these boards are eased, adding to the sophistication of your deck's look. The eased edges also prevent splintering, so you won't have to worry about going out on your deck in bare feet.
This type of decking board can also be used to provide a traditional look to your deck. The planking look is favored among deck owners because of its traditional appearance, but it is also versatile. It can be used to create linear or diagonal shapes, adding to the visual interest of your deck.
If you prefer a more complex planking pattern, you can combine the 5/4" x 6" Ipe decking board with 5/4" x 4" boards to create a two-width appearance.
The 1" thickness of these boards allows your decking surface to be strong. These boards can bear the weight of heavy patio furniture, as well as just about anything else you want to place on your deck. The added strength also means that fewer crosspieces will bee needed to ensure that your decking surface is stable.
The 5/4" x 6" Ipe decking boards are available in several lengths. You can purchase 4' - 7' boards for $2.99 per linear foot; 9' - 11' boards for $3.29 per linear foot; or 12' - 15' boards at $3.55 per linear foot. These boards are even available in 16' - 20' lengths for $3.84 per linear foot.
